"Republicans Aim to Decimate Abortion Access"

Like most of the fear-mongering emails that the Democrats send to their faithful, this is an "urgent" matter. Oh, really? How can something that is not true, and would represent no threat to anyone even if it were true, be "urgent?" Well, the simple answer to that question is that the Democrats always have to have a current (and usually totally false) crisis in order to raise funds—funds that will not be spent to fight an imaginary battle, but funds that will go straight to the bank accounts of both the Democrat hierarchy and the organization that sent the email, in this case the DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee).

To My Dear, Ignorant, Democrat Friends: 

Allow me to explain why it is not true that "Republicans aim to decimate abortion access." 

• First and foremost, the Supreme Court did not ban abortion, it simply said that abortion is an issue that should be decided by the individual states, and that the federal government has no constitutional authority to meddle in the abortion issue. That means that NO ONE—either Republican or Democrat—at the federal level may pass any law that would either restrict or expand abortion access, because no one at the federal level may pass ANY law affecting states' rights to regulate abortion. 
• Second, this fund-raising email does not point to the evidence for the claim it makes. What is the source of their claim? And even if they could point to proposed bills that have actually been committed to writing, those bills would be fruitless. Even if such a bill was passed, it would be shot down by the Supreme Court. 
• Third, how is electing additional Democrats to the Senate going to ensure abortion access? Again, the Senate cannot, by definition and as a result of the recent Supreme Court ruling, pass enforceable constitutional laws dealing with the abortion issue.
• Fourth, how will you know if your money was well-spent? If such an effort as the Republicans are accused of never comes to pass, these same fund-raisers are going to send you a "Wahoo! We did it!" email telling you that your money stopped the evil Republicans from limiting abortion access, when in fact not a penny of your donation will have been spent on fighting an issue that never existed. 

Don't Get Punked...Again. Save Your Money for Something That Actually is Important and Urgent. Something like, I dunno', food, clothing, shelter, gasoline, medicine, insurance premiums, pet supplies and so forth. In these times, do you really have enough money to send a chunk of it to politicians and professional campaign fund-raising grifters to pad their private, offshore accounts? When most people can barely support their own meager existence, is it really URGENT! for you to contribute to the lavish lifestyles of corrupt politicians and professional fund-raisers?
